How Practicing Family LawHelped Me Realize My Callingas a Health and Wellness Coach

For over a decade, I practiced family law, representing men and women through one of life’s most emotionally charged transitions: divorce. It was demanding work–strategic, personal, and often deeply painful. As a lawyer, I was trained to be an advocate, a protector, a guide through a complex legal process. But what I often found myself longing to offer was something the legal system didn’t fully support: a safe space for healing.

Balancing the responsibility of fierce advocacy with the need to lead clients toward a more peaceful, compassionate outcome was a tightrope walk. It left me wondering: What if there were a better way? What if we helped people strengthen their emotional and physical health before making major life decisions? What if we gave them tools for self-awareness–not just legal clarity?

Through those years, I learned something essential: People don’t just need legal advice. They need clarity. They need wellness. They need to be seen. What became clear to me was this: People often lose their sense of self in relationships, especially during transitions. They blur the lines between who they are as individuals and who they are as part of a couple or
family. And when it’s time to make big decisions, they’re exhausted, disconnected, and overwhelmed.

They need someone to hold space, not just hold answers.
They need someone to partner with them, not just direct them.
They need to feel healthy–in mind, body, and heart–in order to make the best decisions for
themselves and their future.

This realization led me to my second calling: becoming a certified integrative health and wellness coach.

Today, I help individuals navigate change, deepen self-awareness, and reconnect with their own rhythms and needs. Whether they’re moving through midlife, burnout, identity shifts, or family transitions, my work is rooted in empowerment and healing.

Because your individual health and wellness matter. They are the foundation for every choice you make and every relationship you build.

The 12 Areas of Health I Explore:

  1. Physical Health
  2. Mental Health
  3. Emotional Health
  4. Spirituality
  5. Nutrition
  6. Hydration
  7. Movement
  8. Rest & Sleep
  9. Relationships
  10. Career & Purpose
  11. Environment (home/work)
  12. Community & Support

When even one of these areas is off-balance, it can ripple into every other part of your life.
But when we tend to them–gently, compassionately, and consistently–we create the conditions for real growth.

Divorce taught me about disconnection. Coaching taught me about coming home to yourself.
And now, I get to walk alongside people as they do just that.
